Get Ready for the Rugby World Cup 2015
The Rugby World Cup 2015 is on the horizon and 18th September will see the first game between England and Fiji kick off at Twickenham Stadium. Worry not though, as you don’t need to wait until then to join in with the fun and games of the big event.
So far there has been a great amount of events happening throughout the UK, but also all over the world! There’s the 100-day Trophy Tour which commenced on 10th June 2015 and will continue until the first week of September. This has enabled the teams to travel the world and visit many places: Japan, Australia, Fiji, Madagascar, South Africa, Argentina, Uruguay, USA, Hong Kong & China, Italy, Romania, Canada, Germany and also France.
It has been an eventful couple weeks, but the fun is only just starting. Although we still have nine weeks until the first game begins, you can prepare for the big event by kitting yourself out with all right pieces. There’s Welsh Rugby Shirts, accessories and novelty items which you can purchase ready for your chosen game.
If you haven’t bought tickets for the game, don’t worry. There is a ticket re-sale page available to use on the official RWC website, where those who previously bought tickets but can no longer attend, are able to re-sell to those who want them. Therefore, be sure to check that out if you don’t want to miss out!
Lastly training in Doha, Qatar will commence on Monday 20th July 2015 through to 29th July and will take place at the Aspire Dome. This is a climate controlled arena, which houses a full-sized pitch. Team members have already completed training in Fiesch, Switzerland and still have intensive programmes to follow until September. Their itinerary includes:
August 3rd – 8th in Ireland – This is the test week where the team will have to do it all again, following the 23-16 Six Nations win against Joe Schmidt’s boys.
August 16th – 23rd in Spala, Poland – During their time in Poland, the plays will step into cryotheraphy chambers, which allow them to train three times a day. They will be subjected to temperatures as low as -160c for a three minute session.
August 24th – 29th in Ireland – Another test week will commence, which will be the final chance for players to show their ability before Gatland names is final group of 31 for the tournament.
August 31st – Today is the day that the final team is announced.
August 31st – September 5th in Italy – Yet again, another test week, but the players won’t have long left until the first game is here.
